New Years Eve 2024 – 13:30 Tuesday 31 December 2024 to 06:00 Wednesday 1 January 2025

Large numbers of people are expected to congregate to see the light and firework display around midnight based at the London Eye. The area around the River Thames between Waterloo and Lambeth Bridges, and in Trafalgar Square, Parliament Square will therefore be closed to all traffic. Additionally, the traditional gathering in Piccadilly Circus will also attract significant numbers of people.

 ROAD CLOSURES

Vehicular access to a large part of central London will be restricted.  The Metropolitan Police will allow buses through a number of cordon points to an inner ring.

 In advance of closures, Parliament Square, Westminster Bridge, Whitehall and Victoria Embankment, Waterloo Bridge, Belvedere Road, and Chicheley Street will be closed to all traffic from 14:00. 

York Road, Taxi Road (Waterloo Station) IMAX Roundabout, Waterloo Road (IMAX to The Cut), Stamford Street and Concert Hall Approach will be closed from 17:00 to enable a pre-event build to take place.

 Lambeth Bridge will be closed from 18:00.

Blackfriars Bridge will be closed from 19:00.

 Southwark Bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions from approximately 22:00.

Vauxhall Bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions from approximately 23:30 until the crowds have cleared following the firework display approximately 00:30.

 Some road closures will stay in place for the New Year’s Day Parade.
